Unfortunately, the new front side greens did not grow in as predicted. Now that the growing season is over we have decided to open the full 18 holes. The greens will fill in more when the growing season starts back in spring.

It is finally sprig time!! Thursday, July 5th we will plant greens 1-9 as well as the putting green. Leading up to this we have made three applications of roundup and fusillade to kill out the old Bermuda grass. We will sprig with MS Supreme Bermuda grass. While this is not an ultra - dwarf Bermuda grass, when maintained properly it will produce a much better year round putting surface than the previous turf.

So, what should you expect over the next month or two? Once planted the sprigs will be fertilized weekly and watered heavily. They will spend their first week of surviving the stress of planting. They will brown out and slowly begin to green up during week two. Once they have recovered and greened up we will see them begin to grow and creep together becoming fuller by the week. As they grow, we will cut back our watering frequency. Around week six we will begin cutting them and adding sand to the surface in preparation for opening in late August. We will slowly increase mowing frequency while lowering mowing heights. Please remember they will be opened as eight week old babies and likely still have a few dimples or scars to fill in as they mature. This will take place up until frost and throughout the 2019 season.

This is truly exciting time as the MS Supreme on the front 9 in conjunction with an improved Bermuda grass with less carpet grass  on the back 9 should allow for a much improved course during the fall season. So get EXCITED, be PATIENT, and get your friends out for a round!
